At the New England Division III men's indoor track and field championships at MIT, Bates senior Adam Macbeth (Ellsworth, Maine) placed second in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.74 seconds, a personal best mark and a provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Division III Championships. His time is also tied for ninth-best this year among all Division III hurdlers.Macbeth also had season-best long jump of 21-10.25, good for fifth place, and ran a strong leg in Bates' 4x400 relay, which earned second place in 3:23.55.
Kathleen Nugent '06
Bates senior co-captain Kathleen Nugent, a multi-events specialist from Buxton, Maine, became the New England Division III indoor champion in the women's pentathlon at the regional championships at Tufts University on Saturday.Nugent's 3,079 points in the event outpaced second-place Maddy Outman of Williams College by 36, and are the third best mark in Bates history.

Bates placed seventh out of 24 teams at the meet.
