Playing at the No. 4 position for the Bates women's squash team in its final match of the season, Bates senior Eliza Roberts didn't seem to have good odds going against Mairin Barnes, the former No. 1 player at Cornell, a team that defeated Bates 7-2 earlier this season. But she pulled off a 9-7 5-9 9-5 9-3 victory, setting the tone for Bates' 6-3 win over Cornell, which gave the Bobcats the No. 9 final ranking in the College Squash Association for the third straight year.
The senior co-captain from Andover, Mass., was 3-0 at the Team Nationals at Harvard University in wins over Vassar, Bowdoin and Cornell, and she finished the season with a 16-6 individual record.
