Ray is the Male Bobcats of the Week for the second consecutive time, after garnering tournament MVP honors at the Holiday Inn-Naismith Classic at Springfield College over the weekend.In Bates' wins over Trinity University of Texas (63-57) and Springfield College (70-64), the 5-11 junior guard from Bangor, Maine, averaged 17.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 3.0 steals. His points and assists combined to account for 39.8 percent of the Bobcats' offensive production, helping to increase Bates' (8-2) current winning streak to five games.

Ray currently ranks 14th in the NESCAC in scoring (12.9 ppg), is tied for third in assists (5.33 apg), and is first in steals (2.89 spg).

Before even taking a class at Bates College, first-year transfer Jackie Powers earned the NESCAC Player of the Week award and tournament MVP honors at Springfield College's Naismith Classic over New Year's weekend.In wins over Springfield (83-51) and Trinity University of Texas (76-71, OT), Powres averaged 18.5 points on 50 percent (14-for-28) shooting, as well as 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals.

Through four games (Powers joined the Bobcats on Dec. 15), the 5-7 guard from Andover, Mass., averages 14.5 points per game, second highest on the team.
