Bates junior Will Paddock(Denver, Colo.) played superbly in his first two starts for the Bates men's lacrosse team last week.Paddock made 17 saves while allowing only five goals in Bates' 6-5 win over Colby on Thursday, for a sparkling save percentage of .773. Two days later at Tufts, the first-place team in the NESCAC, Paddock made 13 saves and allowed nine goals in over 65 minutes of action, as the Bobcats fell by a 9-8 score in the second overtime period.

Bates junior goalkeeperKatie Nickerson(Windham, N.H.) made 11 saves in the Bobcat women's lacrosse team's 12-11 win over NESCAC rival Tufts on Saturday. And it was the last two that really stamped her performance as a great one.In the final minute of the game, Tufts, which had rallied from an 12-8 deficit to cut the Bates lead to 12-11, saved two point-blank, free-position shots in the final minute to preserve Bates' win.

Nickerson also made 20 saves in a loss at Middlebury on Wednesday.
