Along with senior teammates John Lattimer, Damon McGinn, Rob Stockwelland Sam Taylor, Zak Rayplayed his final home games over the weekend to cap a 1-2 week for the Bobcats men's basketball team. In an dazzling week's performance, Ray averaged 22.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals while playing 120 of a possible 125 minutes.Ray's 67 points for the week lifted him from 24th all the way to 15th on Bates' all-time scoring list. With 1,154 career points, Ray passed Jim Sutherland '61, Larry Quimby '52, Erik Johnson '90, Rommel Padonou '01, Bill Beisswanger '66, Billy Hart '02,Keith Ferdinando '93, Mike Marsh '97 andErik Bertelsen '72 on the list in a single week.

The Bates women's track and field team shattered the school record in the indoor distance medley relay last Friday night at the Valentine Invitational at Boston University. Bates' time of 12:05.93 beats the former mark of 12:19.99, set in 2003.Running the race for Bates were first-yearKatie Bash (Wallingford, Pa.) in the 1,200-meter leg, sophomore Izzy Alexander (Harvard, Mass.) running the 400-meter leg, senior Jen Caban (Bedford, Mass.; pictured) running the 800-meter leg, and seniorKathryn Moore (Pelham, N.H.) running the anchor 1,600-meter leg.
The quartet also easily met the provisional qualifying time for the NCAA Division III Championships.
The former record-holding team was composed of Julie Dutton, Kathleen Nugent, Kim Whipkey and Kelley Puglisi.
