Going 1-2 last week, with home losses to Trinity and Amherst, wasn't in the Bates men's basketball team's plans. But Rob Stockwell '07nevertheless continued the kind of play that makes him a favorite to win NESCAC Player of the Week honors.Stockwell (Temple, N.H.) averaged 18.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists while hitting 6-of-16 behind the arc (.375) in the week, which included a home victory over the University of New England. He moved past Adam Piandes'96 into seventh place on Bates' all-time scoring list, with 1,359 points.

Stockwell currently ranks second in the NESCAC in scoring at 18.8 points per game, while leading the conference in rebounding at 10.9 boards per game. His field goal percentage of .541, a career high, is the eighth best in the NESCAC.

At Saturday's home tri-meet against Babson and Gordon, Bates first-yearKatelyn Drake (Hudson, Ohio) set a Bates record in the 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 1:01.36, which shaved .04 seconds off the previous record set byDenby Johnsonin 1998. The performance was among several highlights in the Bobcats' head-to-head team victories over the visiting Beavers and Fighting Scots.That wasn't all Drake won that day, either. She also took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.79, and swam a leg in two winning relay efforts: the 400 medley relay, with Drake, junior Meghan Conley (Longmeadow, Mass.), sophomore Alexis Boyatsis (Dover, N.H.) and junior Annie Barton (Holladay, Utah) teaming up for a time of 4:17.93, and the 400 free relay, with first-year Sarah Reingold(Oakland, Calif.), first-year Claire Beers(Rochester, N.Y.), first-year Esther Kendall(Ridgeway, Ontario) and Drake making it an all-freshman effort in 3:56.17.
