Defensive end Terence Ryan(Milton, Mass.) finished his standout senior season by breaking his own Bates record in sacks for a season, collecting 1.5 on Saturday for a total of 11.More importantly, on a day with a plethora of outstanding performances on both sides of the ball, Ryan was a leader in Bates' stingiest defensive day of the season, as the Bobcats allowed Hamilton only six points and 134 yards of offense, including just 17 rushing yards on 24 attempts.
Ryan led the Bobcats in tackles with six, including the 1.5 sacks. He had 3.5 tackles for a total loss of 17 yards. He also forced a fumble, broke up a pass and notched a quarterback hurry.

Kathryn Moore finished 19th out of 321 runners at Saturday's Division III New England Regional Women's Cross Country Championships, leading Bates to an outstanding seventh-place showing out of 48 teams.Moore (Pelham, N.H.), a senior team co-captain, became the first Bates woman to qualify for the Division III Cross Country Championships since Katherine Creswell '05 did it in 2003.
Running in a pack for virtually the entire 6-kilometer race behind Moore were teammates Aviva Goldstein, Emily Williams, Esther Kendall, Molly Balentine, Jen Caban and Abby Samuelson. With 235 points, Bates was beaten only by nationally ranked Middlebury (73, Amherst (78), Williams (100), Tufts (118), Keene State (160) and Colby (214). The Bobcats, in turn, edged out such high-quality opponents as Smith (263), Connecticut College (271), Coast Guard (284), Bowdoin (305), Wheaton (335), Brandeis (359) and MIT (360).
Moore will compete at nationals this Saturday, Nov. 18, in Westchester, Ohio.
