Bates senior Sean Wilkinsonplayed as prominent a role as any Bobcat in the men's squash team's excellent weekend in Connecticut.Bates scored a pair of wins against top-10 opponents at Yale University, 5-4 over Cornell on Friday and 9-0 over Navy on Saturday.
Wilkinson, who is now in his third year as a team captain, defeated Cornell's Steve Peever 9-7, 9-4, 9-3 for a crucial point in the win over the No. 8 Big Red. He proceeded to bump No. 10 Navy's Jeff Sawin 9-6, 9-4, 9-5 on Saturday, and dispatched Franklin & Marshall's Chris Gagnier 9-1, 9-4, 9-3 on Sunday morning at Yale before his streak ran out at mighty Trinity College that afternoon in a three-game loss to the Bantams' Manek Mathur.
Wilkinson was ranked No. 44 on the College Squash Association's final rankings in 2007, and he has competed at the CSA Individual Nationals as both a sophomore and junior.

Among the several performers needed to produce a solid result for the Bates Alpine ski team at last weekend's St. Lawrence University Winter Carnival, Bates senior co-captainWhitney Fahy(Carrabassett Valley, Maine) emerged as the most productive. In the giant slalom on Friday at Whiteface Mountain, Fahy had the Bobcats' top day, placing ninth out of 54 competitors with a two-run combined time of 2:08.63. In Saturday's slalom competition, Fahy had a second straight solid day, with identical runs of 46.82 seconds good for 17th place out of 54.The Bates women's alpine team placed fifth on both days, helping the overall Bates ski team to a second-straight fifth-place carnival finish, ahead of such rivals as Colby and Williams.
Fahy was a qualifier for the 2007 NCAA Championships but couldn't make the trip due to the NCAA's limit of three team members per gender per team.
