Senior co-captain Bryan Wholey led Bates to the CUA Classic championship and their sixth straight win over the weekend at Catholic University, earning tournament MVP honors as he averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals in wins over the City College of New York and Catholic.The 6-foot-3 guard from Marshfield, Mass., currently leads the Bobcats in scoring (15.0 points per game) and steals (2.0 spg) and is shooting field goals at a career-best clip of 44.7 percent. He ranks second on the team in both rebounding (5.4 rpg) and assists (3.6 apg).

Wholey and the Bobcats resume their schedule with a non-league game at the University of New England, tipping off Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.

Meg Coffin '08
Bates senior center Meg Coffin(Westford, Mass.) averaged 13.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting 18-for-27 (.667) from the floor during the Bates women's basketball team's 3-0 week.Recently returned from a year's layoff due to a knee injury, Coffin scored her 1,000th career point Thursday in a win against William Paterson University. She was named to the All-Tournament Team while helping to guide the Bobcats to the Holiday Inn/Naismith Classic at Springfield College. (Teammate Val Beckwithwas named tournament MVP.)

In the five games since her return to the Bates lineup, Coffin, an Honorable Mention All-America and the NESCAC Player of the Year in 2005-06, has averaged 14.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting a sparkling 61.7 from the floor.
