Along with another big week from senior captain Allie Beaulieu, Bates sophomore Molly Brown led the Bates women's basketball team to an impressive 3-0 week, with road wins at UMaine-Presque Isle, Colby and Bowdoin.
Brown (South Dartmouth, Mass.) averaged a team-high 17.0 points with 3.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists in an impressive 3-0 week for the Bobcats. The 5-foot-8 sophomore had 23 points in a win against Bowdoin and shot 19-for-37 from the floor (51%) in her three games. Brown also connected on seven threes for the week. The Bobcats also defeated NESCAC rival Colby, with Brown posting 15 points and grabbing five rebounds.
Brown earned Maine Tri-Player of the Week on Monday from the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association for her play, along with Southern Maine senior Nicole Garland and UMaine-Farmington senior Kenni Norton.
Brown could easily have shared the honor with Beaulieu (Swampscott, Mass.) as well — Beaulieu scored her 1,000th point en route to 19 points at UMaine-Presque Isle. On Saturday, she posted a monster game at Bowdoin, with a career-high 26 points to go with nine rebounds.
Bates was able to sweep CBB (Colby-Bates-Bowdoin) play with a 4-0 record. The Bobcats (8-7, 2-2 NESCAC) host Connecticut College on Friday at 8pm and Wesleyan on Saturday at 4pm.
