Kevin Davis's outstanding junior season on the Bates baseball team has only grown more impressive as the year winds down.
The two-sport standout (Davis was the leading receiver on Bates' football team this past season) led the Bobcats to a 3-2 record last week, hitting .450 and smashing the team's single-season record for doubles.
Davis (North Andover, Mass.) played error-free defense at both third base and in left field, while at the plate he raised his batting average to .349, going 9-for-20 with seven doubles, six runs scored and six runs batted in. Davis's team-high RBI total rose to 31, the most by a Bobcat since 2010.
Davis hit five doubles in Bates' doubleheader sweep of Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., on Sunday, rocketing past the former team record of 15 doubles in a season, set by Noah Burke '11 in 2010. Davis ended the week with 18 doubles, four more than any other player in the NESCAC, and he was tied for third in the conference in RBIs, only two shy of the league leader.
