Bobcat of the Week of Oct. 22, 2012: Eliza Pyne '13

Senior captain Eliza Pyne (Atherton, Calif.) of the Bates volleyball team led the Bobcats to a win over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday during the Cougar Classic at Kean University in Union, N.J., and Pyne earned selection to the all-tournament team.

Bates dropped a 3-1 decision to Baptist Bible (Pa.) College on Saturday morning, and Pyne led the Bates attack in both matches, with 13 kills against five errors in the loss to Baptist Bible (.216), to go with six digs, followed by her 10 kills against five errors (.179) and five blocks in the win over the Mariners. In Friday's 3-0 loss to host Kean, Pyne totaled four kills.

A starting middle blocker for all four of her years with the Bobcats, Pyne started this week leading the team in kills (2.43 per set), attack percentage (.200) and blocks (0.47 per set). She also stands among conference leaders in aces per set, along with teammates Laryssa Schepel, Nicole Russell, Tess Walther and Kelsey Berry.

Pyne and Bates volleyball host Trinity (Friday 8pm) and Amherst (Saturday 2pm) this Homecoming Weekend to conclude the regular season.
