Sophomore guard Jeff Spellman (Boston, Mass.) scored a career-high 38 points in Bates’ 107-103 win over the University of New England on Sunday. He shot 16-of-25 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line while grabbing eight rebounds. He scored 24 points in the second half.
Spellman's 38 points were the most by a Bates player since Mike Boornazian scored 39 at Connecticut College in 2014. His 16 field goals are the most by a Bobcat since at least the 1999-00 season.
In a 2-0 week for Bates, Spellman averaged 22.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
