Field hockey has a big challenge against the No. 2 nationally ranked Jumbos. Women's soccer (2-3-1, 1-2-1 NESCAC) looks to its noontime matchup with Tufts (2-2-2, 1-1-1) with an eye on returning to the the type of play that led to a 2-1-1 start.

Bates volleyball plays at home this weekend against two of the better teams in the NESCAC. The Bobcats celebrate Senior Night, recognizing captain Rachel Colby, at Friday night's 6 p.m. match against Amherst, then they'll play Middlebury on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. Both matches will feature live video streaming at First Team Broadcasting's Bates website.

The Bates men's golf team plays at the 2010 NESCAC Golf Championship Qualifier this weekend, hosted by Trinity College at Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Kensington, Conn.
