With a combined 61 points, Bates placed sixth in the women's giant slalom event, ahead of such competitors as Vermont (57), Middlebury (51) and Williams (42).

Later Thursday on the men's side, Bates junior Leo Menard (Portland, Maine) finished in 22nd place with a two-run combined time of 2:25.70, while junior teammate Dan Loman (Killington, Vt.) came in 30th place at 2:27.07.
