Bates coach Thompson presents summer baseball camp July 20-23

Coach Edwin Thompson

Bates College head baseball coach Edwin Thompson presents his first annual summer camp, open to players ages 7-14 (or going into ninth grade), to run July 20-23 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

This day camp offers personal and group instruction in all phases of the game of baseball, featuring drills to emphasize the techniques learned in daily instruction. The staff will provide proper instruction and drills to enhance the skill set of each camper. Campers will be grouped according to age and skill level.

Thompson, a former Division I and professional baseball player, is entering his fifth year as a college coach and has coached four players who have been drafted by Major League Baseball teams, including the 2008 top overall draft pick. The rest of the camps staff will be comprised of Bates coaches and players, as well as some of the finest college and high school coaches in the area.

Each camper will receive an official camp T-shirt and will also have the chance to win daily and weekly prizes.

Pick-up and drop-off will be at Leahey Field, the home field of the Bates Bobcats.

The cost will be $100. To register, please go to http://collegebaseballcamps.com/calendar.cfm?ID=256&src=CBC. Space is limited and camps are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You will receive a registration confirmation in the mail or by e-mail. Please contact Coach Thompson with any questions by e-mailing ethomps2@bates.edu or calling 207-786-6063.
