HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates senior David Kurey was named NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week on Sunday, for the final week of the 2014 season. It is Kurey's second time capturing the award this season.

Kurey (West Chester, Pa.) punted seven times in Saturday's 31-10 win over Hamilton -- four of them were downed inside Hamilton's 15-yard line, including one at the 1-yard line and another at the 2-yard line. His punting helped Bates (4-4) finish with a three-game winning streak and its third straight season of .500 or better.

Kurey broke two Bates' single-season program records in 2014, both marks previously set by Gavin Segall-Abrams '11 in 2010. Kurey's final average of 40.2 yards per punt bests the former mark of 38.6, and his total punting yards (2,491) breaks Segall-Abrams' mark of 2,391.
