Field hockey team garners academic awards from NFHCA





LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College field hockey team earned a 2007 National Academic Team Award from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association, the NFHCA announced on Wednesday. Bates is one of 83 teams in Division III to receive the award, which goes to teams that post mean grade point averages of 3.0 or higher.

In addition, five members of the Bobcats were named to the 2007 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad, for athletes who have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the Fall 2007 semester. The five Bobcats honored individually are senior forward Erin Chandler (Thornton, Pa.), first-year back Zoe Donaldson (Port Washington, N.Y.), junior forward Rachel Greenwood (Williamstown, Mass.), first-year midfielder Morgan Lynch (Hingham, Mass.) and first-year back Diane Saunders (Durham, N.C.).
