WATERVILLE, Maine -- Junior Jared Quenzel (West Hartford, Conn.) and first-year Garret Bonney (Sudbury, Mass.) had the best twosome score of the day by any team, combining for a one-under-par 69, as the Bates men's golf team took third place out of five teams on Saturday at the Colby Classic, in which each team had three two-man teams competing at Waterville Country Club.

The event's scoring format shifted after every six holes: the first six holes were best ball scores, the second six holes were scramble holes and the third six holes were alternating-play holes.

Second for the Bobcats were sophomore Garrett Johnson (Lexington, Mass.) and sophomore Zach Abbott (Rangeley, Maine) with a 75, followed by junior Corey Gingras (Eastford, Conn.) and sophomore Sean Thomas (Mississauga, Ontario), at 76.

The Bobcats will return to Waterville on Sunday to play the Colby Invitational, in a scramble format.
