SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. -- Four of the five scoring players on the Bates women's golf team were first-years or sophomores, led by rookie Emily Plotnikov, as the young team placed 14th at the Mount Holyoke Invitational, which concluded Sunday.
Williams came away as the winner among 14 teams at the two-day tournament, which took place at par 72, 5845-yard The Orchards Golf Club. The Ephs combined for a four-person score of 619.
Emily Plotnikov (Brooklyn, N.Y.) shot a 93 on Sunday for a two-day score of 196, leading a Bobcat squad that scored a collective 841. Sophomore Elizabeth LaVerghetta (Norton, Mass.) shot a 99 on Sunday to finish at 202, followed by first-year Sarah Centanni (Hingham, Mass.) at 216 and senior Jordan Banez (Fredericksburg, Va.) at 227.
The Bates women's team next competes at the Middlebury Invitational, Sept. 28-29 in Middlebury, Vt.
