Rutkin '17 takes places second at CBB Men's Golf Tournament

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Bates freshman Brad Rutkin shot a 4-over-par 76, just one stroke away from medalist honors, as the Bobcat men's golf team placed third at the CBB Tournament on Saturday at Brunswick Golf Club.

Bates shot a five-man combined score of 416, three behind second-place Colby (413), with Bowdoin taking first place at 387.

Rutkin (Great Neck, N.Y.) claimed sole possession of second place among the 15 competitors on the day. Senior captain Garret Johnson (Lexington, Mass.) shot a 79 to tie for seventh place. First-year Alex Stekler (Avon, Conn.) finished at 80 for ninth place, with junior Garret Bonney (Sudbury, Mass.) and senior Aidan Schmidtberger (Upper Black Eddy, Pa.) shot a 90 and a 91, respectively, for 14th and 15th places.

Bates finishes the season Oct. 27-28 at the NEIGA Championships, taking place at Captains Golf Course in Brewster, Mass.
