Wassarman paces women's golf on day one of Williams Fall Invitational

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Senior captain Kelly Wassarman shot a 92 Saturday to lead the Bates women's golf team on the first day of the Williams Fall Invitational at Taconic Golf Club. 

Wassarman (Middleton, Wis.) is currently tied for 65th place out of 94 golfers. The Bobcats shot 405 as a team, good for 14th out 16 schools, 10 strokes ahead of Johnson & Wales and 34 strokes back of 13th place Union College. Host Williams College currently sits in first place with a team score of 306, one stroke ahead of Amherst. Amherst's Jessica Jeong leads all scorers after the first round after shooting a 73 on Saturday.

First-year Brittany Seipp (Glen Head, N.Y.) shot a 103 for Bates and is currently in 79th place. First-year Andrea Hepfinger (Madison, Wisconsin) and junior captain Chelsea Anglin (Dayton, N.J.) both shot a 105 to finish in a tie for 84th. 

The Williams Fall Invitational doubles as the NESCAC Championships and it continues Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m.
