LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates first-year Mike Boornazian earned Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week from the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association, this time sharing Co-Rookie of the Week award with Chris Hudnut of Colby.
In Bates' season-ending 88-79 loss at No. 10 nationally ranked Williams on Saturday in the NESCAC Championship quarterfinals, Boornazian (Portland, Conn.) scored 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, including a 4-of-5 shooting performance from three-point territory. He also grabbed five rebounds and added a blocked shot and a steal in the game, which was the most closely-contested of the four NESCAC quarterfinals played on the day.
Boornazian appeared in all 25 games for the Bobcats (10-15) this season, ranking fifth on the team in scoring (8.1 points per game) and second in rebounding (5.4). He was named Maine Rookie of the Week last week after averaging 10.0 points and 9.0 rebounds in a 1-1 week.
