HARTFORD, Conn. -- Senior attackman Kris Tedeschi scored three goals to lead the Trinity College Bantams to a 7-5 victory over the visiting Bates College Bobcats in this afternoon's New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's lacrosse action at Jessee/Miller Field.
Trinity improves their record to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the NESCAC while the Bates fall to 0-5 overall and 0-2 in league play.
After a scoreless first quarter, it was the Bobcats who got on the board first in the second quarter with a goal from sophomore attackman Tyler Moore (North Andover, Mass.). Just over a minute later, Tedeschi answered for the Bantams with his first goal in the afternoon off an assist from sophomore Harper Cullen to tie the game up 1-1. Twenty seconds later, Cullen put the Bantams up, 2-1, with a goal of his own.
Bates tied the game at 2-2 with a goal from senior Mike Medeiros (Concord, Mass.), but the Bantams answered again in the second period with goals from junior Zack Trudeau and first-year Trevor Stern. Trinity went into halftime up by two goals and fought off the Bates attack for rest of the game.
Tedeschi scored the only goal of the third period to put the Bantams up by three after three quarters of play. The fourth quarter saw the Bobcats outscore the Bantams 3-2, but the Trinity managed to maintain its lead. Tedeschi closed out his hat trick with the last goal of the game to secure the 7-5 win for Trinity late in the last stanza.
Senior attack Justin Simon (Canaan, N.H.) led Bates in goals with two, while sophomore attack Les Wade (Randolph, N.J.) dealt a team-high two assists.
Junior goalkeeper Alex Palma (Chappaqua, N.Y.) had 16 saves for the Bantams, shutting out the Bobcats in two different quarters. Senior goalkeeper Will Paddock (Denver, Colo.) stopped 14 shots in net for the Bobcats.
