LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates senior midfielder Rob Highland (Yarmouth, Maine) has been selected to play in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/LaxWorld Annual North South Game.
The 72nd USILA North-South Games will be played at Edith Robb Dixon Field on the campus of Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa., on Friday May 24, 2013. The Division III game will be played at 3pm, followed by the Division I/II game at 5:30. The tradition started in 1940 and has been played every year with the exception of 1944 and 1945.
This is the third postseason honor for Highland: he was named Second Team All-NESCAC, joining sophomore teammate Mac Jackson (Hood River, Ore.) as an all-conference selection, and he was also voted NEILA First Team All-New England by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
Highland scored 21 goals to go with five assists this season, joining sophomore Jack Strain (Montclair, N.J.) and first-year Jack Allard (Ridgewood, N.J.) as Bates’ first trio of 20-goal scorers since 2002. Highland scored 17 of his goals in NESCAC contests, tying him for 11th in the conference in that category. He scored three or more goals against Skidmore, Amherst, Trinity and Tufts this season, setting personal highs in goals and points by margins of eight and 10, respectively.
