WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Bates College men's soccer team suffered its first loss in four games, falling 4-0 at conference-leading Williams on Saturday.
The Ephs (8-0-1, 4-0-1 NESCAC) scored three times in the opening 19 minutes to take early control of the game. Charles Romero added his second goal of the contest in the second half for the deciding margin. Williams outshot Bates 22-10.
Bates (2-5-2, 0-4-1 NESCAC) will host Thomas College in a non-league contest on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Gaston Kelly had a goal and assist, while goalkeeper Andrew Graham notched one save for the Ephs.
Bates sophomore goalie Greg Watts (West Chester, Pa.) made five saves in 75 minutes of action, before giving way to sophomore Karl Alexander (Cambridge, Mass.), who made one save and allowed no goals.
Senior back Patrick King (Gorham, Maine) returned to the Bates lineup after a five-game absence due to an injury suffered against Husson on Sept. 20.
