HANOVER, N.H. -- The Bates men's squash team's lone representative at the College Squash Association Individual Nationals, senior Nick Echeverria, finished up the season with a five-game loss to Peter Nolan of Kenyon College on Saturday in the First Round Consolation bracket of Molloy (B) Division play.
Echeverria (Washington, D.C.), a Bobcat team captain making his first appearance at CSA Individual Nationals, nearly came back from a two-game deficit with two hard-fought wins in the third and fourth games. Nolan prevailed in the fifth game, winning by a final score of 12-10, 11-5, 10-12, 9-11, 12-10.
Echeverria went 1-1 on Friday, the first day of play at the tournament held at Dartmouth.
Echeverria, seeded 38th in the 48-player field of the Molloy Division, fell 11-7, 11-8, 11-8 to 29th-seeded Hunter Bouchard of Navy in the first round. Coincidentally, Bouchard was the last opponent Echeverria faced before the match, in Bates' 6-3 win over Navy last weekend in the CSA Team Nationals.
Echeverria moved on to the First Round Consolation bracket, where he defeated Daniel Pelaez of Hobart in identical straight games, 11-5, 11-5, 11-5.
