Men's squash rolls over Amherst at home, 9-0

LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 14 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team had little trouble in defeating NESCAC rival Amherst College on Tuesday night at the Bates Squash Center, putting down the No. 23 Lord Jeffs by a 9-0 score and allowing the visitors only two games won.

Amherst (3-4, 1-3 NESCAC) got its only two points at the No. 2 position, where Bates junior Kristian Muldoon (Paget, Bermuda) defeated David Kerr 3-1 (11-6, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8), and at No. 8, where Rodrigo Quan Miranda fell 3-1 (11-5, 9-11, 11-6, 11-6) to Bates senior David Born (Westbrook, Maine).

Elsewhere, Bates prevailed in competitive game after competitive game, still winning 3-0 at No. 1 with first-year Ahmed Abdel Khalek (Cairo, Egypt), at No. 3 with senior captain Walter Cabot (Dover, Mass.), at No. 4 with senior R.J. Keating (Short Hills, N.J.), at No. 5 with sophomore Andy Cannon (Greenwich, Conn.), at No. 6 with first-year Filip Michalsky (Prague, Czech Republic), at No. 7 with Nabil Saleem (Alpharetta, Ga.) and at No. 9 with first-year Caran Arora (Mumbai, India).

The Bobcats (7-4, 2-2 NESCAC) will kick off play in the Yale Round Robin with a match against No. 4 Cornell on Saturday at 9am in New Haven, Conn.
