No. 11 George Washington wins 9-0 over No. 18 men's squash

LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 18 nationally ranked Bates men's squash team fell 9-0 to No. 11 George Washington Sunday afternoon at the Bates College Squash Center.

Sophomore Benni McComish (Williamstown, Mass.) turned in a strong performance for the Bobcats (5-2) at the No. 8 position, rallying from two games down to force a decisive fifth game in a narrow 3-2 (11-4, 11-7, 4-11, 7-11, 11-6) loss to George Washington's Billy Berner. 

Sophomore Mahmoud Yousry (Cairo, Egypt) won his first game at the No. 1 position before falling 3-1 (9-11, 11-3, 11-8, 11-0) to Mahmoud Abdel-Maksoud. At the No. 9 position, first-year Dylan Muldoon (Devonshire, Bermuda) also won his first game before dropping his match 3-1 (10-12, 11-3, 11-8, 11-6) to Juan Laguna. Coming off his dramatic victory Saturday, first-year Omar Attia (Cairo, Egypt) played well in tight 3-1 (11-6, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8) loss to Mohammad Al-Terki at the No. 4 position.

The Colonials (6-4) swept the other five matches on the afternoon.

Bates looks to bounce back Wednesday when the Bobcats visit No. 30 Wesleyan for a 6:00 p.m. match.
