Men's tennis loses to No. 27 Trinity, 6-3

HARTFORD, Conn. – Bates College men's tennis tied the match at 3-3 early in singles, but No. 27 Trinity College won each of the last three match-ups to earn a 6-3 win on Saturday at the Ferris Athletic Center Field House.

The Bantams improved to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the NESCAC while the Bobcats – who have played eight of their last nine matches against ranked opponents – fell to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in NESCAC play.

Senior Timmy Berg (Bradenton, Fla.) and junior Pierre Planche (Natick, Mass.) teamed to beat Daniel Carpenter and David Myers at first doubles, 9-8.

Berg won 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 over Carpenter in first singles while Planche topped Ned Mandel at the second singles spot, 6-4, 6-4.

Next, Bates plays at Wesleyan tomorrow at 10 a.m.
