Men's track athletes shine at MIT, BU

BOSTON and CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Bates juniors Emmanuel Drabo and Graham Raymond and first-year Noah Glick all performed well at the non-scoring MIT Coed Invitational on Saturday, capping an eventful weekend for the men's track and field team.

Drabo (Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso) had a season-best triple jump of 45 feet and 3 inches. Glick (Center Tuftonboro, N.H.) high-jumped 6 feet, 1.25 inches, good for a third-place tie. And Raymond's (Westfield, Mass.) 35-pound weight throw of 46-2 was good for fourth place, qualifying him for the New England Division III Indoor Championships next Saturday at Bates.

On Friday at the Valentine's Day Classic at Boston University, senior Sam Thomas (Richmond, Va.) ran a blazing 1:06.66 in the 500-meter dash to qualify for New Englands and ECACs. Sophomore C.J. Murray (North Andover, Mass.) qualified for New Englands and ECACs in the 1,000 meters, at 2:34.42. Junior Andrew Percy (Woodbridge, Conn.) qualified for both New Englands and ECACs in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:50.99. Senior Matt Capone (Auburn, Maine) also ran a strong time of 22.72 seconds in the 200 meters.
