Three men's track and field athletes cited in Jewish Sports Review

Chapman

Goldstein

Waldman

A trio of athletes on the Bates College men's track and field team received mention for their feats during the outdoor season in the July/August 2010 issue of the Jewish Sports Review, the pre-eminent national publication honoring Jewish athletes.

Ethan Waldman '11 (Playa del Rey, Calif.), Sam Goldstein '12 (Memphis, Tenn.) and Jesse Chapman '13 (East Thetford, Vt.) were all cited in the publication's "Sports Shorts" section for their performances at the New England Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, May 1 at Tufts. Waldman placed sixth in the discus throw (144-10) and seventh in the shot put (47-5), earning points toward Bates' third-place team finish at the meet and earning All-New England honors in the process. Goldstein took seventh place in the pole vault (14-5.25). Chapman, meanwhile, was the "big story," the publication reads, for winning the decathlon title as a rookie with 6,481 points, more than 400 points ahead of runner-up Isaac Nicholson of Williams.
