Men's cross country beats all Div. 3 competition at Codfish Bowl

BOSTON -- The Bates College men's cross country team finished second overall and first among Division III teams on Saturday at the Codfish Bowl at steamy Franklin Park.

Division II Bentley won the meet among 25 teams overall with 72 points, followed by Bates with 88. The adult club team Boston Athletic Association scored 114 points, followed by Division II Adelphi with 152. Nine of the 21 college teams at the meet were Division II schools.

Freshman sensation Noah Graboys (Glencoe, Ill.) continued an impressive early season by finishing second overall, covering the 8-kilometer course in 26:10. Sophomore Andrew Wortham (Newton, Mass.) was seventh in 26:21, and senior Devin Dilts (Roscoe, Ill.) came in 11th place at 26:31. Rounding out the team's top seven were first-year Tully Hannan (West Hartford, Conn.) in 33rd (27:29), sophomore Eric Kimball (Manchester, Mass.) in 37th (27:39), junior Sean Colligan (Goffstown, N.H.) in 50th (27:53) and first-year Michael Martin (Slatersville, R.I.) in 53rd (27:56).

Bates, ranked No. 6 in New England Division III, returns to Franklin Park in two weeks to run at the all-divisions Open New England Championships on Oct. 9.
