HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates College sophomore Tully Hannan earned NESCAC Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week honors today, announced by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Hannan (West Hartford, Conn.) was the top runner from Bates or any other NESCAC school, as Bates won the 26-team Codfish Bowl on Saturday at Franklin Park, outscoring Boston University handily for first place, behind superior depth and three top-10 performances.
The No. 22 nationally ranked Bobcats scored 49 points, well ahead of runner-up BU (77). Stonehill (86), Adelphi (154) and Coast Guard (176) rounded out the top five teams.
Hannan and senior Devin Dilts (Roscoe, Ill.) took sixth and seventh places, respectively, out of 286 competitors. Hannan covered the 8K course in 25:56, followed by Dilts in an even 26:00. Sophomore Mike Martin (Slatersville, R.I.) had a huge race as well, placing 10th at 26:25.
The Bobcats had four more runners among the top 25 finishers. Junior James LePage (Cumberland, Maine) was an impressive 13th at 26:32, junior Andrew Wortham (Newton, Mass.) made a strong season debut in 16th (26:39), senior Ben Chebot (Newton, Mass.) was 24th at 26:54 and junior Graham Pearsall (Guilford, Maine) finished 25th in 26:55.
Hannan is Bates' first runner to win this honor since Doug Brecher '10 did so on Nov. 9, 2009.
