No. 11 men's cross country takes 2nd at ECACs

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Four Bates runners earned All-ECAC honors for finishing among the top 14 out of 287 individuals, as the No. 11 nationally ranked Bobcats claimed second place among 43 teams on Saturday at the ECAC Division III Championships at Mt. Greylock High School.

With 54 points, Bates was only outscored by Amherst (44). Williams (84), Tufts (88) and Middlebury (163) rounded out an all-NESCAC top five teams.

Sophomore Camden Black-Ingersoll (Concord, N.H.) finished seventh overall, covering the 8-kilometer course in 26:56, to lead a run of three straight Bobcats. Senior co-captain Graham Pearsall (Guilford, Maine) placed eighth in 26:58, and sophomore Christian Sampson (Brookline, Mass.) took ninth place (27:00). Senior captain Eric Kimball (Manchester, Mass.), meanwhile, placed 11th in 27:04 to snag his second career All-ECAC laurels.

First-year Sam Reilly (Milton, Ga.) came in 19th in 27:21, followed by first-year Thomas D'Amato (Peabody, Mass.) in 23rd (27:29), and first-year Stephen Sipprelle (Princeton, N.J.) rounded out the Bobcats' top seven in 28:24.

The Bobcats' top seven runners this season will compete at the NCAA Division III New England Regionals next Saturday, Nov. 10, at Westfield State.
