GREENE, Maine -- Bates College won five out of seven completed races, including the main event men's and women's varsity eights, to claim the annual CBB Presidents Cup, hosted by Bates on the Androscoggin River on Sunday.
Bates captured the men's varsity eight race with a time of 5:44.84 over the 1,500-meter course, which was modified to approximate the normal 2,000 meters with the races running into a significant current. Bowdoin beat out Colby as runner-up with a time of 6:03.53, with the Mules timing in at 6:04.71.
The Bates women's varsity eight, ranked No. 4 in Division III, dominated its race with a time of 6:50.98, with Bowdoin next in 7:16.11 followed by Colby in 7:21.94.
Bates also claimed first in the men's second varsity eight race, the men's varsity fours, the women's second varsity eights and the women's varsity fours. Colby was the victor in the men's and women's novice fours.
