GREENE, Maine -- Bates College's rowing teams put on another dominating performance against rivals Bowdoin and Colby in the CBB President's Cup regatta, hosted by the Bobcats on Sunday at the Bates Boathouse on the Androscoggin River.
Bates captured first place in the men's and women's first and second varsity races.
The Bates men's first varsity, ranked No. 6 in the New England Rowing Championship coaches' poll, outpaced runner-up Bowdoin 5:58.0 to 6:08.7 over the 2,000-meter course, with Colby third in 6:16.5. The Bates men's second varsity defeated Colby 6:17.7 to 6:28.0.
The Bates women's varsity eight, ranked No. 2 in Division III, blasted runner-up Colby by over 21 seconds, 6:36.8 to 6:58.0, with Bowdoin third in 7:06.7. The second varsity eight also outpaced Colby in convincing fashion, 6:54.2 to 7:14.5. The Bates women's varsity four also won a four-boat race in a time of 6:46.9 over an approximate distance of 1,800 meters, 3.2 seconds ahead of runner-up Bowdoin.
Bates next competes on Saturday, April 25 in Pittsfield, Mass., against Williams, Coast Guard, Ithaca and Marist.
