LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College seniors Elizabeth Sonshine and Haley Sive were both cited on Tuesday as the College Rowing Coaches Association released the 2012 Division III Pocock All-America Team.

Sonshine (Short Hills, N.J.) was chosen for the First Team, while Sive (Glenville, N.Y.) made Second Team in the first All-America honors for both women.

Sonshine and Sive become Bates' ninth and 10th rowing All-Americans all-time. It is the fourth time since 2007 that Bates has seen All-America honors bestowed upon two team members.

Sonshine and Sive were both First Team All-NESCAC selections in both of the past two seasons (three in a row for Sive). Among many other athletic and academic honors, Sive is also Bates' nominee for the 2012 NCAA Woman of the Year Award. The national runner-up for three runs running, the team is currently in West Windsor, N.J., making its sixth straight appearance at the NCAA Championships.

Selection criteria for earning CRCA All-America honors include strength of schedule, regular season record, end of season regatta results, nomination rank, coaches' comments and 2,000-meter erg score.
