HADLEY, Mass. — The Bates men’s rowing team’s third-place showing at last weekend’s NESCAC Rowing Championships, which are concurrent with the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships, translated into three all-conference honorees for the Bobcats on Thursday as the New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its 2013 All-Conference Rowing Teams.

Seniors Peter Haley (Cos Cob, Conn.), Matt Johns (Seaford, N.Y.) and Andre Gobbo (Chesterfield, N.H.) all earned All-NESCAC selections, with Haley and Johns selected to the First Team and Gobbo making the Second Team. All three men are on Bates' men's varsity eight, which tied for its best finish ever at NICR by reaching the Grand Final and finishing sixth.

It is the third consecutive All-NESCAC honor for Haley, the team's co-captain, and his second First Team nod. Gobbo was also a Second Team pick in 2011, while Johns is receiving his first All-NESCAC honor.
