GREENE, Maine -- The Bates men's rowing team won three out of four races, including both varsity eight showdowns, in the 15th Thomas Hedley Reynolds President’s Cup regatta, hosted by the Bobcats on Sunday at the Bates Boathouse on the Androscoggin River.

Bates' men's varsity eight (MV8), the fourth-ranked eight among 17 in the New England Rowing Championship Coaches Poll, edged Colby in a close race, finishing the 2,000-meter course on the Androscoggin River in 6:45.6 to Colby's 6:47.1. Bowdoin finished third in 7:05.1.

Bates' two boats in the M2V8 race both outpaced Colby's entry with ease: Bates' A boat finished in 7:11.4, followed by Bates B in 7:25.2 and Colby in 7:40.2. Bowdoin won the MV4 race, but Bates swept the top two spots among four boats in the men's novice fours, 7:52.0 and 8:03.5.

Bates stays at home next Sunday to host Middlebury and the University of New Hampshire.
