WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Bates women's rowing team competed for the first time this fall on Saturday at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta, and the national runner-up for each of the past four years made a strong showing.
Bates' first varsity eight, seeded first among 46 boats, had the third fastest time in the field, at 15:47.924, topped only by Holy Cross (15:29.658) and Wellesley (15:33.891). Bates' second varsity eight came in 11th (16:33.842), and the Bobcats' third eight was an impressive 21st, in 17:20.896.
Bates rows next weekend, Oct. 20-21, at the Head of the Charles in Cambridge, Mass.
