    Brenna Callahan threw a two-hit shutout and Kelsey Freedman followed with a one-hit shutout, as the Bates College softball team defeated visiting Thomas College in both games of a doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Lafayette St. Field.

    Bates senior Kelsey Freedman was named NESCAC Softball Player of the Week on Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference, on the heels of her outstanding week at the plate and on the mound for the Bobcats.

    The Bates softball team earned a split against Husson University Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference doubleheader at Lafayette Street Field. The Bobcats dropped game one, 1-0 but rallied for a 4-0 victory in the nightcap.

    Karen Lockhart ripped five extra base hits and four RBIs to help lead the Bates softball team to a double-header sweep of Fisher College in non-conference action Monday afternoon. The Bobcats took the first game, 11-3 in six innings, and won the second game, 9-4.

    Kira Shaikh recorded the lone hit for the Bates softball team, as the Bobcats fell 13-0 in five innings to No. 1 Tufts University in the series finale at Bowdoin College Sunday morning. Tufts was the home team in a game that was postponed from March 28 and April 5.

    LEWISTON, Maine - Bates College softball will hold the first of three winter high school clinics, head coach McKell Barnes announced. Clinics begin on Sunday, February 22 and running through March 8 at the Lafayette Street Field on its Lewiston Maine, campus from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Players can register for one, two, or three Sunday sessions. The high school camp is geared toward the serious high school player in grades 9-12.
