Bates swimming shows mettle at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. -- Bates College enjoyed several winning performances in a dual swimming and diving meet at NESCAC power Middlebury College on Sunday. With the Bobcats competing for the second time in two days, following Saturday's tri-meet at Norwich University, the host Panthers won by a score of 160-128 on the women's side, and 162-78 on the men's side.

Bates two-time All-American sophomore diver Kelsey Lamdin (Brunswick, Maine) continued her undefeated season by claiming first place in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, with 234.00 and 230.33 points, respectively.

Bates also received another outstanding victory by first-year Katelyn Drake (Hudson, Ohio) in the 100-yard backstroke. Drake touched the wall in 1:01.63, 0.71 seconds ahead of Middlebury senior Becca Reingold.

Bates will host its second and final home meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 13 against Gordon and Babson. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
