LEWISTON, Maine -- Some breakthrough performances were recorded at Tarbell Pool on Saturday, as the Bates College swimming and diving teams hosted a tri-meet against Babson and Gordon colleges.

The Bates women defeated Babson by a 183-110 score, and Gordon by a 215-68 score. Babson defeated Gordon 175-80. On the men's side, Bates defeated Gordon 177-68 but lost to Babson 163-123, while Babson beat Gordon 214-53.

Bates first-year Katelyn Drake (Hudson, Ohio) set a Bates record in the 100-yard backstroke, with a time of 1:01.36, which shaved .04 seconds off the previous record set by Denby Johnson in 1998.
