The now four-time All-America diver Kelsey Lamdin '09
HOUSTON -- Bates College sophomore Kelsey Lamdin placed 13th in the 3-meter diving event Saturday at the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Houston to claim her second All-America honor of the meet and the fourth in her college career.
Lamdin (Brunswick, Maine) scored 390.10 points, finishing ahead of eight of the 22 divers in the competition, and just 0.15 points behind St. Olaf first-year Alyssa Germeroth. The 13th-place finish earns her honorable mention All-America status.
Lamdin placed fifth in the 1-meter diving finals Thursday night
for her highest NCAA Championships finish to date and her third career All-America honor. Lamdin made the finals with a preliminary-round score of 419.80 points, second best in the competition behind only Doria Holbrook of MIT. Lamdin scored 410.45 points in the finals. Erica Deur of Calvin won the event with 487.00 points, followed by Holbrook (470.10), SUNY Fredonia's Kelly Sponholz (426.10), Wisconsin-La Crosse's Amanda Mendendorp (416.15), Lamdin, Lake Forest's Maggie Rezac (408.00), St. Olaf's Alyssa Germeroth (404.05) and Tufts' Lindsay Gardel (402.95), the only other NESCAC diver to round out the top eight in the event.
A year ago at nationals in Minneapolis, Lamdin won Honorable Mention All-America laurels in the 1-meter and sixth place in the 3-meter.
