LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates junior Gabrielle Sergi's progress in becoming one of the top freestyle sprinters in the New Englane Small College Athletic Conference is documented in her hometown Newburyport (Mass.) Daily News.
A feature on Sergi's rise leads off the Daily News' regular College Notebook, "A Touch in time puts Sergi on All-NESCAC team," written by John Shimer in the newspaper's March 8 edition.
Sergi capped off an outstanding junior season with two all-conference (top three) performances at the New England Small College Athletic Conference women's championship meet. She broke her own team record and finished third overall in the 50-yard freestyle, in 24.04 seconds, and also anchored Bates' third-place showing in the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Bobcats' first All-NESCAC relay team since 1994.
