Yanofsky named NESCAC Co-Player of the Week

On the season Yanofsky leads the Bobcats in scoring (14.8 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg) and blocked shots (3.33 bpg), and ranks fifth, 16th and first in the NESCAC in those categories, respectively.

HADLEY, Mass. -- The New England Small College Athletic Conference today named Bates College senior Lauren Yanofsky the Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week, with Tufts guard Colleen Hart sharing the week's honors.

Yanofsky put on a dominating performance in last Tuesday's 96-80 victory over Thomas College, the Bobcats' (6-2) lone game on the week. Yanofsky finished the game with a season-high 22 points on 11-of-16 shooting, as well as season highs in rebounds (13) to go with six blocked shots, four steals and four assists.

Bates was behind 44-41 at halftime, but outscored the Terriers 55-36 in the second half, fueled by Yanofsky's 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting, seven rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.

Yanofsky also won NESCAC Player of the Week honors last season, on Jan. 12, 2009.
