LAS VEGAS -- Bates junior Lauren Dobish scored a career-high 19 points, and junior Annie Burns added six points, seven rebounds and seven assists, to lead the Bobcats past Kenyon College 76-60 in Bates' last game in the D3hoops.com Classic on Wednesday at the SouthPoint Arena.
Sophomore Allie Beaulieu (Swampscott, Mass.) added 12 points for Bates (8-2), which outscored Kenyon 33-6 in bench points and turned 20 Kenyon giveaways into a 20-3 advantage in points off turnovers.
Maureen Hirt scored 22 points for the Ladies, who dropped to 7-4 with the loss. Morgan Korinek added 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and a game-high eight rebounds.
Burns (Topsfield, Mass.) paced the Bobcats to a 39-35 halftime advantage, with six points, five rebounds and four assists and all three of her steals in the game. Junior Kelsey Flaherty (South Portland, Maine) hit a three for a 13-8 lead with 13:47 to go, but a 7-0 run by the Ladies, capped by a Hirt three, put Kenyon ahead 15-13. Bates responded again with an 8-0 run, with a pair of threes by Burns and Dobish and a pair of free throws by senior Christine McCall (Lowell, Mass.). The Bobcats' 21-15 lead with 10:53 left in the half was basically maintained for the remainder of the period.
After scoring eight points in the first half, Dobish (Chambersburg, Pa.) added 11 more in the second half, hitting all three of her shots from behind the arc. She finished 5 for 7 from three-point land, establishing career highs in makes and attempts.
Bates opened a 57-38 lead within the first 5:02 of the second half with an 18-3 spurt, capped by a pair of layups by sophomore Brianna Hawkins (South Portland, Maine). Dobish hit a pair of threes in the run and senior Jessie Igoe (Lexington, Mass.) added four points. Bates' lead got as high as 20, when another Dobish three made it 72-52 with 7:09 to go
