LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates College first-year student Molly Brown has been named Maine's Rookie of the Week for the second straight week, announced Monday by the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
A 5-foot-9 forward, Brown (South Dartmouth, Mass.) averaged 15.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game for the Bobcats in a 1-1 weekend. In Saturday's big 69-53 home win over Bowdoin, Brown poured in a game- and career-high 19 points.
Brown has played in nine of Bates' 15 games thus far and currently ranks second on the Bobcats in scoring average, with 10.9 points per game. She is shooting free throws at an .875 clip (14-for-16) and is shooting .410 from the field (34-83).
Brown received the same award last week, as she averaged 9.3 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while shooting 44.4 percent from behind the arc.
