LEWISTON, Maine – Bates College women's basketball first-year Allie Coppola has earned Maine rookie of the week honors after averaging 10.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game last week, the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.
Coppola tallied two double-doubles on the week bringing her season total to five. She recorded 13 points and 12 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards, against Saint Joseph's College on Jan. 29. The 5-foot-11 forward followed that performance with 10 points and 14 rebounds in a career-high 37 minutes at Wesleyan University on Jan. 31. She concluded the week with seven points and eight boards at Connecticut College on Feb. 1.
A native of Tarrytown, N.Y., Coppola started in each of the Bobcats' three contests last week for the period of Jan. 27 to Feb. 2, playing 36.0 minutes per game while shooting 12-of-28 (.429) from the floor and 6-of-8 (.750) from the foul line.
On the season, the Hackley School product has notched 6.7 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 44.0 percent from the field and 74.4 percent from the free throw line.
Coppola and the Bobcats return to action this weekend at Williams on Friday at 6 p.m. and at Hamilton on Saturday at 2 p.m.
